Know what direction you want to go in before you start your search for that next role.
Sounds like a simple thing doesn’t it? It is for some people, but like most things in life, knowing your goal and the direction you want to go in means that you will get there so much quicker and for most of us, this takes practise. Consider the characteristics of the role you want and consider the ones you don’t. If you know what you want it is easier to target your job search much more effectively and importantly to align your resume, your answers to interview questions and your “career story” to the one goal. Consider whether your long term aspirations need to considered as a decision making factor.
