Newsletter: October 2008

Welcome

#Welcome to Allegra Consulting's October Newsletter.

It's hard to believe we are already well into the last quarter of 2008. What a busy and eventful 10 months it has been thus far - both on a local and global scale. Many of our clients - not just in the financial sector - have endured challenging times with so much happening and changing - almost daily - in the economic outlook. Fortunately, as change management practitioners and advocates, we are well placed to help negotiate the challenges and help clients to continually achieve their objectives.

This month we are pleased to announce the full details of our Allegra Consulting Change management even on November 13 - hopefully you will have already received a personal email invitation. Please contact us directly at info@allegraconsulting.com.au for further information or to make a booking. It will be a sensational evening and we look forward to seeing you there.

We also spend Five Minutes with Jacob Hallenkreutz who is a Change Management practitioner in Sweden.

We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter.

Warm regards,

Helen Haley and the team at Allegra Consulting

Leading in Turbulent times

Rick Maurer has an international reputation for his insightful approach towards change management and leadership. He is a published author including his book Beyond the wall of resistance.

We thought his recent article that focuses on a practical approach to change leadership during turbulent times was both helpful and timely.

To view his article and to read his blog which is updated frequently, go to http://www.beyondresistance.com and read his free white paper entitled "Leading in turbulent times".

The Allegra Consulting Change Management Event

Allegra Consulting is excited to announce the details of its first Change Management Workshop. As a change management centre of excellence, Allegra Consulting is committed to providing forums and events that unite like-minded practitioners and create opportunities for knowledge sharing and the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Change Management Workshop

Understanding and leveraging organisational culture to deliver effective and sustainable change.
When: Thursday November 13 2008, 6.30 8.30pm
Where: Hotel Charsfield, 478 St Kilda Road, Melbourne
Cost: $60

The format for the evening includes a half hour of welcome and networking drinks and canapas followed by keynote speaker Annie Anderson, Senior Change Manager at AXA and a panel/audience discussion.

Annies presentation focuses on Thinking culturally - how change really works”.

Organisations can be thought of as networks of ongoing, self-organising conversations. When people get together, share their perceptions and interpretations of whats going on during a change process they make things up (i.e. their view of reality).  Hear some practical examples of what patterns of meaning emerge from this process - where change management can become formalised in missions, strategies, policies, etc or become part of the 'accepted' cultural wisdom. Using an active process of cultural assumptions Annie will talk through using sense-making and coalition-building to make change an effective legacy.

Panel Participants

Annie Anderson - AXA
Josie Burgess - ANZ
Natalie Reed - NAB
Ch Broekman - University of Melbourne

Panel Discussion

This session will build upon the themes raised by Annie Anderson in her keynote presentation and will examine – through audience and panel discussion – the applicability of Annie’s approach to change management agendas within other organisations. All attendees are encouraged to exchange their own experiences and knowledge on this theme while supported and reviewed by panel members who will also share their viewpoints and practical examples and insights.

Who should come to the workshop?

Anyone who deals with change management challenges within their organisation; Change management practitioners, leaders of change initiatives, leaders of transformational change, project practitioners.
